As a chef, a lover of beautiful objects and a person who has dedicated her career to making other people happy, it’s safe to say that I take “gifting” pretty seriously. Yet where others may feel that the most impressive presents are lavish, ostentatious offerings, I gravitate to more thoughtful gestures that celebrate the unique qualities of the people I love.
To me, the best gift is an indulgence that the receiver would rarely splurge on themselves, as well as something that reflects their unique, individual interests. Beyond these two primary requirements, I then think about the soul and the quality of the item in question. If it is handmade or lovingly crafted by another human, all the better!
So as we stock our shelves this holiday season, these are the questions we’ll be holding in our minds. Every object we have selected—and every sweet treat we bake—is curated with the intention of making people feel cared for and appreciated.
